2. A rocket is going upwards with accelerated motion.
A man sitting in it feels his weight increased 5 times
his own weight. If the mass of the rocket including
that of the man is 1.0 x 104 kg, how much force is
being applied by rocket engine? (Take g = 10 m s-2)
My opinion is that the value of 'g' decreases with increase in altitude. Then how can that man feel heavier when his weight w=m×g is lesser than his initial weight on the surface of the earth?

Answer:

4*10^5

Explanation:

weight experienced by the man is m(g+a)

5mg m(g+a)

a = 4g

f = ma

f = 1.0*10^4 *40

= 4*10^5

variation of g with altitude is neglected.

downward force experienced is weight.

due to inertia weight is increased.
