Given : By selling sugar at Rs. 11 per kg, a tradesman  calculates that he will make a profit of 10%.

But  through faulty scales he sells as 1 kg.  Which is really  0.9 kg

To Find :. What profit percent does he actually make?

Solution:

Let say Cost price per kg =  Rs C

Profit 10 %  = (10/100)C  =  0.1C  Rs

Selling Price = C + 0.1C = 1.1C  Rs

1.1C  = 11

=> C = 10

Cost price per kg =  Rs 10

he sells as 1 kg. What is really  0.9 kg

Hence Cost Price = 0.9 x 10 = 9 Rs

Selling Price = Rs 11

Profit = 11 - 9 = 2 Rs

Profit %  = (2/9) * 100

= 22.22 %

He makes 22.22 % profit
