♧Answer♧

• Diameter = AC = 26 cm

• Chord = AB = 24 cm

Perpendicular drawn from the centre of the circle to the chord bisects the chord.

OD is perpendicular to AB.

So, AD = DB

AO = OC (Radii)

In Tri.AOD

OD² + AD² = AO²

OD² = AO² - AD²

OD² = 13² - 12²

OD² = 169 - 144

OD = _/25

OD = 5 cm

Thus, Distance between the chord and the center is 5 cm.
