Mainly two methods are used to dry pulses:

1. Natural drying - In this the threshed products are exposed to the air in sun or shade. To obtain the desired moisture content the grain is spread in thin layers on a drying floor. The grain is stirred frequently to achieve uniform drying.

Advantages:

a. Very low cost of drying.

b. Flexible capacity.

2. Artificial drying - In this heated air with the help of dryers, or unheated air with the help of dehumidifiers is blown through a mass of grain.

a. Facilitates early harvesting.

b. Independent of weather conditions.
