In the short story "Should Wizard Hit Mommy?" by John Updike, an unpleasant smell came from Roger Skunk which caused him a great deal of trouble. Whenever he went out to play with the other animals in the forest, they ran away from him because of the foul smell coming from him. So, none of the animals liked to play with him and they all teased him by calling him "Roger Stinky Skunk." The foul smell became a cause of his unhappiness, misery and loneliness and he wanted to change it in some way.
