Reason:-The currents in the deep ocean involves the action of temperature and pressure.While, those of the surface  currents involves planetary action.

Reason:-There exists two types of currents. Warm ocean currents are generated at the equator and move towards the poles whereas,cold  ocean currents are generated at poles and move towards the equator.
