Permanent changes are also known as irreversible changes.

Two features of permanent changes are:

  1. These changes can't be undone once they are done.
  2. They may be a physical or a chemical change.

For example, if you break a glass beaker, you can not glue together the tiny pieces together to get the beaker again. This is a physical change as no new substance is formed.

Example of chemical changes include rusting of iron, burning of paper, wood, coal etc.
