Step-by-step explanation:

In triangle ABC

AB=5m

AD=9m

BC= ?

By pythagorus theorem

H²=P²+B²

AD²=AB²+BD²

9²=5²+BD²

BD²=9²-5²

BD²=81-25

BD²=56

BD=√56

BD=7.4

as we know that BD=BC+CD

BD=BC+BC. (becauseBC=CDgiven)

BD=2BC

BC=BD÷2

BC=7.4÷2 =3.7m

Now in triangle ABC

by pyth thoerem

AC²=AB²+BC²

AC²= 5²+3.7²

AC²=25+13.6

AC²=38.69

AC=√38.69

AC= 6.2m
