The smell of hot sizzling food
reaches you several metres
away, but to get the smell from
cold food you have to go close

the sizzling food has the food molecules which got heated and gained energy so they rise up in the air and travels for long distance.

whereas the cold food molecules are denser than the hot molecules of food hence they don't travel for long distance..

The smell of hot sizzling food reaches you several metres away as the heated particles of air above the food have higher rate of diffusion and reach you whereas cold food doesn't diffuse very fast and you have to go close to smell the food.
