Explanation:

Coal formed millions of years ago when the earth was covered with huge swampy forests where plants - giant ferns, reeds and mosses - grew. As the plants grew, some died and fell into the swamp waters. New plants grew up to take their places and when these died still more grew.

\huge\underline\mathfrak{Question}

How coal is formed?

\huge\underline\mathfrak{Answer}

Millions of years ago,dense forests got buried under the soil due to the natural processes like floods, storms, earthquakes.These got compressed as more and more soil deposits over them.When they got buried deep into the soil,they were exposed to very high temperature and pressure.Under these conditions,dead plants slowly converted into coal.This process of conversion of dead vegetation into coal is called carbonisation.
