 For x = - 2 :  f(-2) = 0

⇒ (-2)² +  (p + 1)(-2) + q = 0

⇒ 4 - 2p - 2 + q = 0

2p - 2 = q            

For x = 3 :   f(3) = 0

⇒ (3)² + (p + 1)(3) + q = 0

⇒ 9 + 3p + 3 + q = 0

⇒ 12 + 3p + (2p - 2) = 0

p = - 2

  thus. 2(-2) - 2 = q = - 6
