1)The above statment is completely true.

2)The time period of a pendulum does not depend upon the height from which is released.

3)According to the formula and laws regarding motion the time period of a simple pendulum is directly proportional to the length of the string and is inversely proportional to the acceleration due to gravity.

4)Hence if you want to change the time period of a pendulum you will have to either change the string or change the acceleration due to gravity (which I think is not possible because g is constant).
