Given:

The wavelength of maximum intensity of radiation  emitted by sun and moon are 0.5 x 10^-6 and 10^-4  respectively.

To find:

The ratio of their temperature:

Solution:

From given, we have,

The wavelength of maximum intensity of radiation  emitted by sun is 0.5 x 10^-6

The wavelength of maximum intensity of radiation  emitted by moon is 10^-4

we use the formula,

Ts/Tm = λm/λs

Ts/Tm = 10^-4 /0.5x10^-6

Ts/Tm = 200

Therefore, the ratio of temperature of sun and moon is 200.
