  • Perpendicular = 16 cm.

Given :

  • Base = 12 cm
  • hypotenuse = 20 cm

To find :

  • Perpendicular

Solution :

Using Pythagoras theorem,

(hypotenuse)² = (Base)² + (Perpendicular)²

[Substituting the value of hypotenuse and base]

➪ (20)² = (12)² + (Perpendicular)²

➪ 400 = 144 + (Perpendicular)²

➪ (Perpendicular)² = 400 - 144

➪ Perpendicular = 256

➪ Perpendicular = √256

➪ Perpendicular = ±16

We know that, length can't be negative.

.°. Length of the perpendicular = 16 cm.
