Answer:

your answer

Explanation:

Correct option is D)

Given, 2K(s)+2H

2

O(l)→2KOH(aq)+H

2

(g)

2 moles of Potassium on reaction gives 1 mole of Hydrogen [ 22.4 at STP]

2 moles of K→22.4 Litres of H

2

2 moles of K=

2

3×22.4

=33.6 Litres of H

2

So, 33.6 Litres of Hydrogen are produced.

Given - Moles of potass and iron = 2 and 3

Find - Value of y² - x²

Solution - The chemical reaction between potassium and cold water is -

2K + 2H2O --> 2KOH + H2

So, we can see that in the reaction of potassium, 2 moles of potassium release 1 mole of hydrogen. Hence, x = 1.

Now, chemical reaction between iron and steam -

3Fe + 4H2O --> Fe3O4 + 4H2

So, 3 moles of iron react with steam to release 4 moles of hydrogen. Hence, value of y is 4.

Now, solving the expression y² - x²

4² - 1²

16 - 1

15

Therefore, value of y² - x² is 15.
