Cartilage, unlike bone, is made of soft, elastic, semi-transparent, flexible tissue that is connective tissue usually found in close association with bones. It provides support and found in tip of the nose, external ear, walls of trachea and larynx. Out of these larynx is the part which is made of cartilage mostly. It has six cartilages that join to make together to form larynx.

Cartilage is a really strong and flexible tissue which provide various purposes throughout the body.
There are three types of Cartilage:
- Elastic Cartilage
- Hyaline Cartilage
- Fibrocartilage
The characteristic of cartilage is that it is smooth and shiny, this is found in the nose, windpipe and other parts of the body as well.
There are also joint cartilages which act as a covering on the joints or on the bones in order to prevent them from being injured.
Cartilage can also be damaged despite being really flexible and strong.
The two parts of the body which are made up of cartilage instead of bone are heart and ears.
