Hand picking:

  • Handpicking in which substances can be separated in a blend by simply taking them out by hand.
  • This technique can be used to separate slightly bigger parts of dirt, stones and husk from the grains as the amount of such impurities is not generally very big.

Threshing:

  • This method is used to separate grain from stalks, a farmer utilizes  this separation technique to collect the granules from stalks.

Winnowing:

  • Winnowing is used to distinguish lighter blend parts from heavier wind parts.
  • Mainly Farmers are used this separation method to separate granules from lighter husk particles .

Sieving:

  • It is primarily used in a flour mill to separate impurities from wheat prior to grinding.  

Sedimentation:

  • If we separate the heavier particles in the solution then the solution is placed in the container for some time.
  • After some moment, the heavier impurities in water settle down at the bottom of the container.
  • But this method is not useful for the lighter particles.

Filtration:

  • In this method using a filter paper to separate impurity particles from water.
