cost of 2 pencils and 15 pens = ₹ 27

cost of 5 pencils and a pen= ₹ 15

★ To find :

Cost of 5 pencils and 5 pens

★ Solution :

Assume :

cost of pencil = x

cost of pen = y

According to question :

2x + 15 y = 27 .... (1)

5x + y = 15 .... (2)

5x + y = 15

y = 15 - 5x ... (3)

by putting value of y in equation 1

2x + 15y = 27

2x + 15(15 - 5x) = 27

2x + 225 - 75 x = 27

-73x + 225 = 27

- 73x = 27 - 225

-73 x = - 198

$x = \frac{-198}{-73}$

$x = 2.712 = 2.7$

→ x = ₹ 2.7

by putting value of x in equation 3

y = 15 - 5x

y = 15 - 5(2.7)

y = 15 - 13.5

→ y = ₹ 1.5

To find :

5x + 5y

by putting values

5(2.7) + 5(1.5)

= 13.5 + 7.5

= 21

therefore, cost of 5 pencils and 5 pens is equal to ₹ 21...
