Acc to the question,

2 people can plough a field in 6 hours.

or, 1 person can plough a field in (2*6) hours = 12 hours.

The lesser the people the more time it will take and the vice-versa.

So, 3 people can plough a field in (12/3) hours = 4 hours. [Ans]

Hope that helps :)

The number of people needed is inversely proportion to the number of hours needed.

⇒ The more people there are, the few hours are needed to plough the field.

⇒ Inversely, the fewer people there are, the more hours are needed to plough the field.

2 people can plough the field in 6 hours

⇒ 2 people = 6 hours

⇒ 1 person = 6 x 2 = 12 hours

Find the number of hours needed for 3 people to plough the field:

1 person = 12 hours

3 people = 12 ÷ 3

3 people = 4 hours

Answer: It takes 4 hours for 3 people to plough the field
