The speaker says poor old lad to adress the dog Tricki as he was sick with illness.

Ans 2 The speaker was a vet surgeon so he knew the method of curing tricki which has been explained as followes he didnt gave him food but plenty of water the 1st few days.Subsequently he gave him soup and meals in a small boys.Within a few days he had recobered from his illness and within a fortnight we was way back home.

3.The word kick means he hadnot showed even a sigh of mobement in himself i.e. he had been down with fever so he it means his healthiness and moving like any other creatur

4. The word *Cure* used in this passage means the same as *Heal*.
