Process of making silk
Explanation:
- Sericulture is the term used for rearing of silkworm for production of silk.
- Thread extraction- after the cocoon is formed , silk threads are extracted, it is placed in boiling water in order to soften the cocoon. Each thread is carefully reeled from the cocoon and wound on a reel.
- Dyeing- threads are bleachec and dried, the threads are soaked together in bundles in a pot of hot indigo leaves and water.
- Spinning- this process unwinds the dyed fibres on to a bobin , so that they lay flat for weaving.
- Weaving - it is the final process in which set of two threads are locked around each other and this is how fabric is obtained.
