Answer :-

Area of trapezium = 1/2 h(b1+b2)

34 = 1/2 (4)(10+b2)

34×2 = 4(10+b2)

68/4 = 10+b2

17 - 10 = b2

b2 = 7 cm

Length of other parallel side is 7 cm.

Question :-

The area of a trapezium is 34 {cm}^{2} and the length of one of the parallel sides is 10 cm and its height is 4 cm. Find the length of the other parallel sides.

Given :-

  • Area of trapezium = 34cm

  • Length of one parallel side = 10cm

  • Height = 4cm

To find :-

  • Length of other parallel sides ?¿

formula used:-

 =  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \dfrac{1}{2}  \times (a + b) \times h

Solution :-

⇒\:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  34 =  \:  \dfrac{1}{2}  \times (10 + b) \times 4

⇒\:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  34 =  \:  (10 + b) \times 2

⇒\:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  17 = 10 + b

⇒\:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  b = 17 – 10

 = 7 cm

Hence, the required length = 7 cm.
