If the area of contact decreases, the pressure increases. pressure is inversely proportional to area that is why pressure increases on decreasing area.

Answer:

The pressure is the force per unit area. So, P=F/A

Thus the pressure P is inversely proportional to contact area A.

So when area increases , the pressure will be decreasing.
