In the poem, "The Bridge Builder," by Will Allen Dromgoole, an old man crosses a swift moving river, which at that time, was at high tide. When he succeeded, he decided to build a bridge. While he was building it, a fellow traveler came along and asked why he was building a bridge if he had already crossed.
