2. Why is the symbol S for sulphur, Na for sodium and Si for silicon???
plzz tell the answer.....

Because some of the symbols of elements like sulphur is derived from the first word of the element. And silicon symbol is derived from the first two word of the name. But sodium symbol is derived from its Latin name natrium
