2(x - 5) + 3(x - 2) = 8 + 7(x - 4)

2x-10+3x-6 = 8+7x-28

5x-16 = -20+7x

4 = 2x

Value of x is 2.

Given:

  • 2(x - 5) + 3(x - 2) = 8 + 7(x - 4) \\

To find:

  • Solve for x.

Solution:

Step 1:

Open brackets.

2x - 10 + 3x - 6 = 8 + 7x - 28 \\

Step 2:

Take all x terms in LHS and constants to RHS.

2x + 3x - 7x = 8  - 28 + 10 + 6 \\

simplify by simple addition and subtraction.

5x - 7x = 24 - 28 \\

or

 - 2x =  - 4 \\

or

2x = 4 \\

or

\bf x = 2 \\

Thus,

Value of x is 2.
