Step-by-step explanation:

2(x + 6) + 3(4x + 8) = 2x

2x + 12 + 12x + 24 = 2x

12x + 36 = 0

6(2x + 6) = 0

2x + 6 = 0

2x =  - 6

x =  - 3

2(x + 6) + 3(4x + 8) = 2x

  • Distributive Property

⇒ 2x + 12 + 12x + 24

⇒ 2x + 12x + 12 + 24 = 2x

⇒ 14x + 36 = 2x

  • On Transposing The Terms :

⇒ 14x - 2x = - 36

⇒ 12x = - 36

⇒ x = - 36/12

x = - 3

  • Checking

2(x + 6) + 3(4x + 8) = 2x

  • BODMAS rule

⇒ 2(-3 + 6 ) + 3(4×-3 + 8) = 2(-3)

⇒ 2 × 3 + 3(-12 + 8) = - 6

⇒ 6 + 3 × - 4 = -6

⇒ 6 - 12 = - 6

- 6 = -6

LHS = RHS

hence proved
