20. A horizontal platform executes up and down S.H.M.
about a mean position. Its period is 2π s. A mass m is
resting on the platfom, what is the greatest value of
amplitude so that the mass 'm' may not leave the
platform ?
(a) 4.9 m
(b) 9.8 m
(c) 2.25 m

Answer: Since as the mass is on platform, they always have same velocity but When acceleration of platform becomes more than acceleration due to gravity in the downward direction, mass m will separate from platform

So, w^2 A = g

A = g/w*w = 9.8m

As w= 1 rad/s
