increase salary = 120%

1% of 120 is 1.2

to reduce it to original i.e. 100 percentage

we need to reduce it by 20

but 1 % of 120 is 1.2

therefore

20 /1.2 = 16.667

therefore we need to reduce it by 16.67 %
