Given info : 200cm³ of a gas at 800 mm pressure is allowed to expand till the pressure is 0.9 atm keeping temperature constant.

To find : the final volume of gas.

Solution : as keeping the temperature constant, process is isothermal.

From Boyle's law,

P₁V₁ = P₂V₂

Here, P₁ = 800 mm = 800/760 = 1.05263 atm ≈ 1.05 atm

V₁ = 200 cm³

V₂ = ?

P₂ = 0.9 atm

Now, 1.05 × 200 = 0.9 × V₂

⇒V₂ = 1.05 × 200/0.9 = 233.33 cm³

Therefore the final volume of gas is 233.33 cm³
