20g'A' and 40g'B' give 25g'C', 15g'D' and 20g'E' in a reaction. Use these observation to explain the law of conservation of mass.

As the reactants are a and b and the products they give are c d and e.

therefore to prove that a + b = c + d + e
i.e. 20 + 40 = 25 + 15 + 20

LHS = 20 + 40 = 60g
RHS = 25 + 15 + 20 = 60g

therefore LHS = RHS
Therefore this explains that in a chemical reaction the sum of the mass of reactants is equal to the sum of the mass of the products.
