A particular distribution is represented by two data points. If the Range and the Standard Deviation of the

R&S respectively, what is the relation between them?

Relationship between range and standard deviation:

  • Both the standard deviation and range are procedures of the spread of a data set.  
  • This association is sometimes stated as the range rule for standard deviation.  
  • The range rule states us that the SD of a sample is roughly equal to one-fourth of the range of the data set i.e. SD=1/4range
