so by pythogoreus theorm we know that

so

x^2+(x+2)^2 = (x+2+2)^2

x^2+x^2+4+4x = x^2+16+8x

x^2-4x-12=0

roots are x= 6 and -2

so x=6

y=8

hypothenuse is 10
