QUESTION : Find HCF of (2²+4²) & (2³+4³)

METHOD USED :

  • Finding HCF by prime factorization
  • In this method, 1stly we have to find prime factor of each number
  • Thne taking those factors in account which are present in both numbers

Solution :

  • firstly simplifying both numbers

2²+4² = (2×2)+(4×4) = 4 + 16 = 20

2³+4³ = (2×2×2) + (4×4×4) = 8 + 64 = 72

  • Now find prime factor of both numbers
  • 20 = 2×2×5
  • 72 = 2×2×2×3×3

as both 20 & 72 have (2×2) as common

Therefore , HCF of 20 & 72 is 4

in other words , HCF of (2²+4²) & (2³+4³) is 4

ANSWER : HCF of (2²+4²) & (2³+4³) = 4
