✬ White, Blue, Red = 2/9, 1/3, 4/9 ✬

Given:

  • A box contains 3 blue , 2 white & 4 red marbles.
  • A marble is drawn at random from the box.

To Find:

  • Probability of getting each coloured marbles.

Solution: Total number of marbles in the box will be

  • Blue + White + Red

  • 3 + 2 + 4 = 9

➟ Total outcome = 9

➟ Favourable outcome = 2 white balls

Probability = Favourable/Total outcome

\implies{\rm } P (White ball) = 2/9

∴ Probability of getting a white ball is 2/9.

___________________

➟ Total outcome = 9

➟ Favourable outcome = 3

\implies{\rm } P (Blue ball) = 3/9 = 1/3

∴ Probability of getting a blue ball is 1/3.

___________________

➟ Total outcome = 9

➟ Favourable outcome = 4

\implies{\rm } P (Red ball) = 4/9

∴ Probability of getting a red ball is 4/9.

Answer:

Given :-

  • A box contains 3 blue, 2 white and 4 red marbles. A marble is drawn at random from the box.

To Find :-

  • What is the probability of :
  1. White marble
  2. Blue marble
  3. Red marble

Solution :-

First, we have to find the sum of the three marbles,

↪ Blue marble + White marble + Red marble

↪ 3 + 2 + 4

9

Probability of white marble,

No of white marble = 2

Probability of getting a white marble,

\dfrac{2}{9}

Probability of white marble is \dfrac{2}{9}

Probability of blue marble,

⇒ No of blue marble = 3

Probability of getting a blue marble,

\dfrac{\cancel{3}}{\cancel{9}}

Probability of blue marble is \dfrac{1}{3}

Probability of red marbles,

➞ No of red marbles = 4

Probability of getting red marbles,

\dfrac{4}{9}

Probability of red marbles is \dfrac{4}{9}

\therefore Probability of white marble is 2/9, blue marble is 1/3 and red marbles is 4/9 .
