Step-by-step explanation:

factor means a zero hence x+a is a factor.

so, the function 2x² + 2ax + 5x + 10 should give zero when the input given is x+a.

x+a=0

x=-a

f(x) =2x² + 2ax + 5x + 10

f(a) =2(a) ^2+2a.a+5a+10

2a^2+2a^2+5a+10=0

4a^2+5a+10=0

a=(-5+√25-160)/8 and (-5-√25-160)/8
