To Find :-

• RY .

Solution :-

Given that, XY || PQ .

→ PX = 5cm.

→ XR = 3 cm.

So,

→ PR = PX + XR = 5 + 3 = 8cm.

Now,

Thales Theorem :-

• If a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle intersecting the other two sides in distinct points, then the other two sides are divided in the same ratio.

So,

→ XR / PR = YR / QR .

Putting all values we get,

→ 3 / 8 = YR / 7.2

→ YR * 8 = 7.2 * 3

dividing both sides by 8,

→ YR = 0.9 * 3

→ YR = 2.7 cm. (Ans.)
