22. Mukesh is an eleven-year-old boy residing in Rampur. Mukesh's father Mahesh was a worker at a construction site employed on a daily basis. His father passed away when he was only two years old. His mother Sunita took his father's job. She worked as a head-load worker and earned 150 a day which was less than the minimum wage announced by the government. Mukesh since his childhood was suffering from TB but due to poor economic conditions, he could not attain proper treatment, this further impacted Mukesh's working ability. He could not go to school either. He was not interested in studies. He helped his mother in cooking and also looked after his younger brother Mohan. After some time, his mother fell sick and there was no one to look after her. There was no one in the family to support them. Mukesh, too, was forced to do the same workload in the same village. He, like his mother, earned only a meagre income.
