Solution :-

There are three different dictionaries and two different novels on a shelf. Petra has to arrange the books in a way that the 3 dictionaries are kept together and the 2 novels are kept together.

Number of ways to arrange 3 different dictionaries together = 3!

Number of ways to arrange 2 different novels together = 2!

Total number of ways to arrange 3 different dictionaries together and 2 different novels together = 3! × 2!

⇒ 3*2*1*2*1

= 12 ways
