Dude, the reaction is:

2Na + Cl₂ = 2NaCl

So, molar mass of sodium = 23g

mass of 2 moles of sodium = 2 x 23 = 46g

One sodium atom loses one electron

So, two atoms of sodium will lose 2 electrons

Hence equivalent weight = Mass of cation/no. of electrons lost

Mass of 2 moles of Na⁺ = 46

No. of electrons lost = 2

Equivalent weight = 46/2 = 23
