Let 'x' be the side of one square and 'y' that of another;
given: x²+y²=468m²
i.e, y²=468-x² ----(i)
also given: 4x-4y=24m
=> x-y=6m
∴ y=x-6 ...putting this value in (i)
(x-6)²=468-x²
x²-12x+36=468-x²
2x²-12x-432=0
x²-6x-216=0
x=18,[-12 rejected]
∴ side of 1st square is 18m and that of 2nd square is 12m.
