answer : option (1) 12g C react to form CO2
explanation : in chemical reaction, C + O2 → CO2
1 mole of carbon reacts to form 1 mole of carbon dioxide.
and this 1 mole of carbon dioxide is passed through 1L of water , produce 1M of H2CO3 dibasic acid.
but in question,
mass of carbon given = 24g
then, it form 2 moles of carbon dioxide
and 2 moles carbon dioxide form 2 mole of H2CO3 dibasic acid. or 2M dibasic acid when passed through 1L water.
hence, it is clear that to form 1M dibasic acid, only 12g carbon is required to burn in the presence of air.
so, option(1) is correct.
