The ratio between the present ages of p and q is 3 : 4 respectively 4 years hence he will be 5 years older than p what is p's present age

let the age of the P be "x"
let the age of the q be "y"
given x/y=3/4
irrespective of 4 years
q is 5 years older than p
therefore y=x+5
by sub we get
x/(x+5)=3/4
on solving
x=15 and y=20
