Question :- A and B are partners in a business. They invest in the ratio of 4 : 9. At the end of 6 months A withdraws his capital. If they receive profits in the ratio of 4 : 9, Find how long B's investment was used ?
Concept used :-
- Profit is distributed between partners in the ratio of their (Investment * Time) .
Solution :-
Let us assume that, B's investment was used for T months.
Than,
we can say that,
→ (investment by A * Time period) : (investment by B * Time period) = (Profit of A) : (Profit of B).
Given that,
- investment by A : investment by B = 4 : 9
- Time by A = 6 months.
- Tine by B = T months .
- Profit of A : Profit of B = 4 : 9
Putting values now, we get :-
→ (4 * 6) : (9 * T) = 4 : 9
→ 24 : 9T = 4 : 9
→ (24/9T) = (4/9)
→ (24/T) = 4
→ T = (24/4)
→ T = 6 Months. (Ans.)
Hence, B's investment was also used for 6 Months.
