24. Vrinda and Sukhda invested a certain sum of money.

Given,

Let the sum of the amount invested by Vrinda and Sukhda be x

i.

Vrinda invested in a car whose value depreciates every year by 10%

10% = 10/100 = 0.1

Amount = x (1 - 0.1)²

Amount = x (0.9)²

Amount = 0.81 x

ii.

Sukhda invested in a land whose value appreciates every year by 15%.

15% = 15/100 = 0.15

Amount = x (1 + 0.15)²

Amount = x (1.15)²

Amount = 1.3225 x

As there was a difference of 410000 in  their earnings, we have,

1.3225 x - 0.81 x = 410000

0.5125 x = 410000

x = Rs 800,000

Therefore the sum of money invested by Vrinda and Sukhda was

Rs 800,000
