Let x be no: of boy and y be no: of girls
x+y = total strength, t
Since x is 12% t more, that means x comprises of 56% t and y comprises of 44% t (diff btwn x and y should be 12% t)
Therefore ratio of boys to girls is 56:44 = 14:11

Alternatively you can solve this by assuming total strength to be 100
x+y =100
Given x=y +12
2y = 88
y = 44 and x=56

Here is your answer
Let the total strength is 100

and Number of Girls are x

So Number of boys = 12% of 100 + x
 = \frac{12}{100} \times 100 + x \\ = 12 + x
ATQ
12 + x + x = 100 \\ 2x = 100 - 12 \\ 2x = 88 \\ x = \frac{88}{2} \\ x = 44
Hence Number of boys = 44 + 12
= 56

Now the Ratio of boys to Girls is
= 56 : 44
= 14 : 11

So Option (C) 14 : 11 is your answer

Hope it helps you
