Hey!!!!

Good Afternoon

___________

let the speed of the train be x km/h

Then we know

=> time = distance/speed

ATQ,

 \frac{480}{x - 8}  -   \frac{480}{x}  = 3

 =  >  \frac{1}{x - 8}  -  \frac{1}{x}  =  \frac{3}{480}

 =  >  \frac{x - (x - 8)}{x(x - 8)}  =  \frac{1}{160}

 =  >  \frac{8}{ {x}^{2}  - 8x}  =  \frac{1}{160}

Cross Multiplying

 =  > 1280 =  {x}^{2}  - 8x

=> x² - 8x - 1280 = 0

=> x² - 40x + 32x - 1280 = 0

=> x(x - 40) + 32(x - 40) = 0

=> (x - 40)(x + 32) = 0

Thus x = 40 km/h

Thus the speed of the train is 40 km/h

_______________

Hope this helps ✌️

let the speed =x
let the time =t
x=v/t , t=v/s
x=480/t , t=480/x
