All India Congress Committee lead by Mahatma Gandhi on 8 August 1942 has given the idea of Quit India movement. After the failure of Cripps Mission, Gandhi Ji made a call for Do or Die slogan in his Quit India speech and launched the Quit India Movement at the Bombay session. By launching the mass protest, the committee demanded "an orderly withdrawal of British" from India during World War II.

In July 1942 congress committee met at Wardha and accepted the idea of Quit India movement.
