Aging is part of life and no one can escape from it. A child always get younger and younger always become an Adult and An adult always become an Old. Its a life long process. As they become older and older they are experienced who guides us in every tough journey of life successfully. So Senior citizens are very respectable person of the country. The person who has crossed the age of 60 and lives permanently in a same country is the known as Senior Citizen of that country. But as they grow older they became weak. They need help to fulfill their work. So it' s our responsibility to take care of them. As they are the roots of our life. They are the person who nurtured us to bloom like a flower. We should never forget the truth that it is because of them we are enjoying our life on this planet. Now its our turn to thanks them by caring them like a child and give respect to them like a God. The elderly, energetic friends who have shaken the wreckage of age and have taken their lives in their own stride, they by their conviction and determination have become masters of their destiny. It is this eternal stage in life where age takesa back seat and contemplation becomes the forerunner. But today’s elderly have set an inspirational example for all senior citizens for a way of life.Elderly does not mean grey hairs, stiff joints and slurred speech. Senior citizens play a very significant role in the social fabric of our society. The nation and society need their guidance for a strategic and stronger future. They have an immense ocean of experience. They can actively participate in administration thoughindirectly commenting on government policies and suggest amendatory measures. Though theymay be weak in body, their strength of experience can act as a lighthouse for policy makers. They may have suffered in and out of jobs (employment), and so they can easily identify which policies are favorable or unfavorable for people.Such roles can be taken up by senior citizens who are dynamic and secular minded. The other kind of seniors who are placid and spiritually bent can take up responsibility of making the youth understand the cultural values and help them to live up to our traditions. They are the custodians of our rich cultural heritage. The elderly are often the most religious and charitable members ofthe family. In Indian religion, charities are often closely linked and the elderly lead the way in giving to the needy and poor.Mainly grandparents play significant part in bringing up children, from babysitting to storytelling, to cooking and feeding kids, they provide a unique kind of love and instill the “Sanskars” whichis the very foundation of culture andsocial fabric. So no matter what the temperamentof elderly is, their role in any country’s rock solid foundation is inevitable. They are the thought-banks of society.Unfortunately in today’s scenario due to amalgamation of foreign culture. Elders are often seen as surplus to requirements and are treated in an impolite and sadistic way by certain sections of our society. Senior citizens are left in unfavorable conditions by children after transfer of estates and assets. These transactions in the west usually takes place after demise. But in India this is often done duringtheir life-time. One needs to understand that such sufferings cantake place only if senior citizens take it. The legislative clause section 18.1 of Himachal Pradesh bill nullifies all such transactions if elders are not given basic respect and amenities, so that the elderly can lead their old age with high esteem and self-respect.Growing old, believe me is good andpleasant thing. It is true that the senior citizens are generally shouldered off the stage but are given such a comfortable front stall as a spectator. So positive outlook is the key to happy life in old age.
