A rod AB of mass 10kg and length 4m rests on a
horizontal floor with end A fixed so as to rotate it in vertical
plane about perpendicular axis passing through A. If the
work done on the rod is 100J , the height to which the end
B be raised vertically above the floor is [Kerala PET 2007]

The height at which B will be raised vertically above the floor is 2m

Mass of the rod = 10kg (Given)

Length of the rod = 4m (Given)

Work done on the rod = 100J (Given)

Work done = mgh/2

Therefore,

100 = 10 10 h / 2

100 . 2  = 100h

h = 200/100

h = 2

Therefore, the height to which B will be raised vertically above the floor is 2m
